This first highlight, from this weekend:  The final play of a 90 second drive with no timeouts.

#43 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=un3B7Og-FS0

Say nothing of the 48 yard bullet, incredible leap or amazing catch despite perfect coverage.  But check out the moves in the pocket.  Dodges a guy, gets the ball off on time, gets creamed and watches his dagger from the floor.  Classic.

#36 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_6LcGbHxR8  - you can start watching at :40 seconds if you want
#1 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJ6LTcvzzAs - watch from the beginning, its only actually 2:30 long  (90 seconds with no timeouts?  TRY 77 Seconds with no timeouts.... vintage 1992.  BONUS 1992 Post game interview with 1 Win under his belt, Brett Favre - With OJ Simpson and Buddy Ryan asking questions: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wGGfhTdiKF0  (Interview starts at 3:30)

You've just gotta love it.  Yea, I'm a Packer fan, but Favre's still a Packer in my book.  It's going to be fun watching Favre with the #1 RB all season, something he's never had.  In fact, it's a rare thing to see a Hall of Fame QB with a #1 RB, as it almost never happens.... (has it ever happened?)

Man the NFL is something else.

Yea, that was an incredible game.  Both teams played near perfection on offense and defense, and the Vikings D-line really rose to the challenge.

Awesome, awesome stuff.  Both QB's over 110 QB Rating.

Disappointing outcome, but with a game as great as that, you can't really complain.  Best game in quite a while.  In fact, I think I have to go back to that Colts/Pats AFC Championship game the year Peyton won it all.  That game was insane, down 24 or so at halftime only to come back in the second half. "The final national rating for the Packers-Vikings "Monday Night Football" game on ESPN made it the most-watched telecast in the 30-year history of the network and the most-watched telecast in the history of cable television."

Yes, but also:

"The rating makes it the single highest rated show of any kind in cable ratings history"

The same guy who holds the all time record for WINS.

A record he set 16 GAMES FASTER than any other QB in history (Elway)

That's right.  The day Favre set the Wins record, you could take Elway's career to that point and tack on an 0-16 season.

Wins are what matters.  Period.

The ratings numbers aren't population adjusted.  The game was the highest rated telecast in history for the same reason the top three highest grossing movies of all time were all released within the past three years.

It's not a percent?

Quote
The most commonly cited Nielsen results are reported in two measurements: ratings points and share, usually reported as: "ratings points/share". As of September 1, 2009, there are an estimated 114.9 million television households in the United States. A single national ratings point represents one percent of the total number, or 1,149,000 households for the 2009–10 season.

Nah.

Say there were only 10,000 households who owned cable in a nation of 1 million households with TVs.  If 100% of cable households watched one show on a given night, that number would only draw a Nielsen rating of 1.0 .  If the next year the number of households with cable jumped to 500,000 and 10% percent of those cable viewers watched one show on a given night, that would draw a nielsen rating of 5.0 and would indeed be the "most viewed cable show in the history of cable."

This is an extreme example of what's happening in real life.  Every year the number of cable households increases as compared to non cable households.  Thus the record for most watched cable show in the history of cable is broken nearly every year.  (Ex: The previous title holder was 2008's Cowboys-Eagles MNF Week 2)

I think I understand what you're saying, but something still doesn't make sense.  For example.  How can the second highest rating be from 1987?  The Dallas Philly game only had a rating of 13.3.  So it seems ratings are population based, or the Dallas Philly game would have clearly been higher rated than an ESPN game in 1987.
The rating (15.3) translates to 15.1 million homes, surpassing the cable viewership record of 12.9 million for a Dallas-Philadelphia MNF game Sept. 15, 2008. The previous high rating for ESPN was a 14.4 for a Chicago-Minnesota telecast Dec. 6, 1987, the network’s first season televising the NFL
Also, a jump of 12.9 million viewers last year, to 15.1 is almost a 20% increase.  You can't chalk that up to a mere increase in cable subscribers.  Especially given cable is really struggling: http://www.multichannel.com/article/128301-Cable_Penetration_Hits_17_Year_Low.php I recognize that doesn't include satellite numbers, but it would be very interesting to see increase is paid TV vs increase in population.  I have a hunch those graphs are very similar.

They should also fire Jason Garrett. If JJ could shed out some $$ and bring Cowher this team would get what's missing, a damn coach that can keep it together. Maybe even Shanahan.
