This would NOT apply to this year's draft!!!!!!

This is a new feature (to my knowledge) but essentially, you can just tell Yahoo to set the draft order to the REVERSE of the results of the previous year's fantasy league.

So anyone finishing last this year would get the first pick, and the winner this year would get the last pick.... note, the draft would STILL be a serpentine draft (like it always has been) BUT, this at least throws a bone, (and something to look forward to) to whomever has tremendous bad luck and finishes near the bottom.  That said, it also makes things more interesting as everyone knows exactly what position they are drafting ahead of time, and livens things up a bit.  "Will chew take Cadillac or Vick #1 this year???"  Hehe....

Statistically the #1 overall pick is the most valuable, and the last pick position is least valuable.  Now, there isn't that much difference between the two, but there is a very real (but minor) statistical advantage to going first.

And before Spec gets angry and says that the #1 pick is the WORST pick to have (like he had last year) then I propose if someone wants to give up the #1 pick, then I say, let them take whichever pick they'd prefer. (which is now also easy to do with Yahoo)  Also, I propose that new players just be inserted into the middle (around pick #6 or so?)

Again, I think this has almost no, or little bearing on the league itself, but would just make things a little more fun and interesting.

Not opposed to it and not sold on it. I do think that the 1st pick sucks (hence voted no Wink )

Also I think having it random is better since you have a limited time to adjust for the draft. I think that with it being random there is more skilled involved in drafting. If you already know in advance in order you pretty much can have a single strategy.

Anyone else care to vote on this?  I set the vote to end at the end of September, so two weeks left to vote.

Oh, and to clarify, I propose newcomers to the league (who didn't have a ranking the previous year) be inserted into the draft order right between the people who made it to the playoffs and those who didn't.  I think that is the fairest spot to add them.

I think random's the best way to go.  Though snake order drafting makes your pick spot nigh irrelevant, I still think it's cool to have the possibility open to landing your ideal pick # every year.  We also still have many players who have never had the opportunity to experience having the #1 pick or the #12 and 13.

Yea, these are good points.  I agree it doesn't really matter, I figured it would just be a way to "throw a bone" to the players who have a particularly bad year.

It was just an idea
