Mapping tutorials for quake 4

Hey guys i'm playing around with q4radiant...I should have dont earlier mapping but just wasnt interested in it at the time. I am trying to learn to map for Q4 but it isnt going very well. I'm running through the ID basic tutorial and I can even get the map to complile in the basic room LOL. If you guys have some tips for me I'd really appreciate it. One thing i'm completely struggling wtih is lights. I add a light to the map but the fricken thing doesnt show any light when i preview the map and i cant select what type of light i want to put in. I'm a complete newb sorry guys heheh.

Are you suggesting there is something wrong with the tutorials my team has put together. I take offense to such insinuations. My team and I spent weeks working out a clear and easy to follow work flow path for new mappers and experienced mappers alike.
